Oxygen from Powder
OxySure Therapeutics, Inc. was founded in early 2002 on one simple idea: to create medical oxygen "on demand", without the need for storing oxygen under extreme pressures. That would make it safer and simpler for broad-based use by lay persons.
With this idea our founder, Julian T. Ross set about creating the technology that drives OxySure today. Our platform technology uses 2 dry, inert proprietary powders to create medical oxygen instantly when they come together upon the turn of a knob. As the first major oxygen technology to come along in over 30 years OxySure has numerous patents issued and pending, and has been recognized with numerous awards. But, most importantly, our products have already been used in thousands of lives saved in medical emergencies all over the United States and in other countries. The OxySure technology allows us to create solutions for mass market applications never before possible.
OxySure's products consist of thermoplastic devices that store the two proprietary compounds in a self-contained cartridge. The powders are dry and inert until activated with a single step, instantly creating medically pure oxygen. OxySure has first-to-market protection on this safe way for individuals to store, carry and administer a source of on-demand, medically pure oxygen without the hazards associated with oxygen storage. OxySure’s consumer emergency product, Model 615 was cleared by the FDA for over-the-counter sale (without the need for a prescription) in the United States in December 2005. The OxySure Model 615 produces medically pure oxygen for use in any medical emergency, prior to the first responders arriving on scene. Model 615 comprises a self-contained cartridge that is disposable, while the main unit is reusable.
The OxySure Model 615 has been cleared by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) for over-the-counter sale, without the need for a prescription. Unlike traditional oxygen tanks, no oxygen is stored under high pressure, so you can safely have oxygen available anywhere a medical emergency might occur. Now a family member or any bystander can administer potentially lifesaving oxygen during the first critical minutes between the onset of the medical emergency and the arrival of the fire/rescue/EMS personnel.
With OxySure's unique technology platform, intellectual property and years of development experience in the space, we have plans to commercialize various, much needed solutions for different vertical markets over time. Examples include mining and tunnel safety, aviation, automotive, sports & recreation, migraine, wound care and skin care applications.
